Tides Canada Foundation is pleased to announce the appointments of Ross McMillan to President and Tim Draimin to Chief Executive Officer. This re-organization of the leadership structure is a response to Tides Canada's tremendous growth in the 7 years since its founding as Canada's first national public foundation focused on social justice and environmental sustainability.
"With two strong leaders at the helm, we will be able to expand our reach, deepen our programs and forge new relationships," said Board Chair Alan Broadbent. "The Board responded very positively when Tim brought forward a shared leadership structure that will allow us to build on our success."
Ross has been a Senior Associate with Tides Canada since its second year of operation and was a principal architect of the $120 million conservation financing program that helped protect Canada's 21 million acre Great Bear Rainforest - the most significant integrated conservation program in North America. In the expansion of his role, Ross brings to the foundation a rich and diverse experience in philanthropy, public service, and the non-profit sector.
As President, Ross will manage the foundation and oversee program development. In addition, he will continue his role in developing Tides Canada's expanding network of donors and institutional partners.
As the founding Executive Director of Tides Canada, Tim Draimin has taken the organization from start-up to a national organization with offices in Vancouver and Toronto with a total income of over $55 million, and partnerships with donors and organizations across North America. Since its inception, Tides Canada has granted $35 million to hundreds of environmental and social justice charities.
In his new role as CEO, Tim will expand his work with donors and collaborative partnerships. He will also focus on a range of key initiatives, including accelerating the growth of social finance to bring new forms of capital to Canada's underfinanced social and environmental sectors. |
